Valentine's Heart (Cappuccino Thins)

The following recipe was contributed by Paul Masse, Masse's Pastries in Berkeley

Ingredients:
1 cup butter
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
½ teaspoon instant coffee, dissolved in 2 teaspoons hot water
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch salt
2 cups and 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
¼ cup chocolate chips

Surprise your loved one with a homemade Valentine treat.

Chef One:
In a 5-quart mixing bowl fitted with a paddle, combine butter, white and brown sugar, until well mixed. Add egg yolks, coffee, cinnamon, and salt. Then add flour and chocolate chips. Mix to incorporate all ingredients.
Chill dough for at least an hour.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough to 1/4" and cut out heart shapes.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until sides take color.
Decorate with powdered sugar or chocolate glaze. There is no limit to your creativity!
