and on the web
The Garden Court Hotel, built in 1988, has become a well-known landmark and event space in downtown Palo Alto. Its Mediterranean-style architecture, painted in an ocher color with dark green trim, has vine-covered terraces and balconies that surround a courtyard full of flowers and greenery. With only 62 luxury guest rooms, the hotel can provide very personalized service.
The Grove Ballroom on the second floor has faux marbled walls, with large floor-to-ceiling arched windows and French doors that open to a large terra cotta tiled balcony. Also on this level is the smaller Terrace Room, perfect for rehearsal dinners or business meetings. Rent of the renovated Courtyard Ballroom on the ground floor includes the use of the outdoor courtyard. The rooms are light, airy, and beautifully decorated. A large floral bouquet for the buffet table and special designed hurricane lamps with a verdigris copper ivy design for the dinner tables are complimentary. For receptions of over 75 guests, the hotel offers a complimentary overnight wedding package that includes a guest room for the bride and groom, with complimentary champagne in Tiffany flutes, continental breakfast, and an extended checkout time. The hotel has two event time blocks on Saturdays for parties and weddings. The food is provided by the award-winning Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana.
The special events manager showed me the hotel. The comfortable guest rooms, with your choice of fireplace or jacuzzi tub, are decorated in soft colors, and have large bathrooms with beautiful Spanish tile. Some of the special touches include down comforters and pillows, canopy covered king sized beds, a high tech work station with fax/printer and T1 lines, fresh fruit and flowers, and cozy bathrobes. Complimentary hot cider, iced tea, cherries and fruit are served. In the evening you can enjoy port in the lobby. A complimentary neck and shoulder massage is available between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
